Battle of the Rattle 2019

Battle of the Rattle 2019 has taken place. Runners have conquered the mountain and beat out the weather(literally it snowed later in the day). Thank you to all runners, volunteers and sponsors. who came out to make this event possible. 2019 Summerlin 4th of July Parade.

For the second year in a row the Nevada Diabetes Association had a float in the 25th  Annual Summerlin Patriotic Parade. A morning filled with festive giant balloons , themed floats from the Vegas Golden Knights, the Las Vegas Lights and other amazing local participants. Including yours truly, where we displayed our "Viva Diabetes" Vegas Elvis themed float to a HUGE crowd of over 30,000 people. With the help of our amazing Board Members Paul and Becki Sweeney who graciously built the entire float, for that we couldn't be more grateful. Driving Fore Diabetes 2019

  June 23rd, 2019 the NDA hosted its Annual Driving Fore Diabetes Charity Golf Tournament. A day filled with beautiful skies, no wind, and... A HOLE IN ONE. Thats right a hole in one, the first hole in one at an NDA golf tournament EVER. The day couldn't have been more exciting. With a fabulous auction, a great raffle and a golf ball cannon. The Nevada Diabetes Association was able to raise $35,000 to help kids in our local community. Family Camp 2019

Family Camp 2019 was held this past weekend(May 17th-19th) in Lake Tahoe. What a success. Clear skies and sunshine.. and also a little bit of rain and snow.  From newly diagnosed families in attendance to the veterans of our camp community. Learning, laughter and fun were all had.   People from all over the west coast in attendance, some which drove 7 hours+ to be there.  A huge thank you to all over our guest speakers in attendance, Dr. Jason Bolenbaker, RN CDE Tandi Mcgee, Dr. Amy Lancing , and Dietitian Heather Williams all who so graciously gave their time to help families [...]

DCAF Annual Picnic 2019

Over this past weekend , Saturday May 11th. DCAF Connections held its Annual Picnic at the Vista's Park in Summerlin, NV. Taking place on a beautiful eighty degree summer day. It was an afternoon filled with BBQ, games, water guns , and families all gathering together for a good time. With an attendance of 110 people the picnic was a sure hit. The Nevada Diabetes Association provided hotdogs and hamburgers while all attendees were encouraged to bring out their favorite dishes to share potluck style. Jail and Bail Fundraiser 2019

The Annual Jail and Bail Fundraiser to send kids to camp has officially come to an end. the winner between Northern and Southern Nevada is....... Team South!  From the start of the event at 10:00am to the end of the day at 3:00pm. Team south held a lead over the North and raised the most in the friendly competition. But lets be honest, the real winners here are the kids. The kids we all actively are helping. With over $10,000 dollars raised in this fundraiser. Springtime Wine Carnival 2019

April 13th, 2019. The NDA put on its Annual Springtime Wine Carnival at Grape Expectations in Henderson, NV. An evening filled with  games, drinks and of course fundraising for the spectacular Camp Vegas. Eli Lilly discloses pricing for Humalog.

Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly, disclosed their profit margins on Humalog for the first time ever. Possibly hoping to silence the ever growing roar of people with the same belief.. insulin cost to much. The “net price ” patients actually pay for Humalog fell by 8.1 percent to $135 a patient per month in 2018 all the way from($12) to $147 in 2014, the company said in a shareholder report released Monday. The net price is the total paid after factoring in rebates and discounts. While the net price with all the discounts offered fell, insulin’s average list price before the discounts rose 51.9 percent [...]
