San Jose 5 Day-Day Camp
San Jose 5 Day Camp Goes Virtual
Enjoy the beauty of diabetes camp while also returning home each day to tell your loved ones about everything you did. Returning campers and new faces are welcome! We believe diabetes camp is the best place to make connections with other people living with diabetes, connections which lead to healthier happier lives.
Daily programming includes games, crafts, group activities, and diabetes education.
Out of an abundance of caution towards the coronavirus (COVID-19), California Diabetes Association and the city of San Jose, Ca have decided to not hold San Jose Day Camp in person this summer. While we will be very disappointed to not see you in person, we have created an alternative, Virtual San Jose Day Camp- and we think it’s going to be great!
Campers will not be online all day, but will be able to log in at several different times each day for messages and interactive activities, both prerecorded and live.
Camp staff will lead group activities and entertainment for campers in secure, password-protected web meetings.
Campers with diabetes are welcome to “bring” a friend or family member (age 5-15) to participate in our Virtual San Jose Day Camp.
Virtual San Jose Day Camp will have two ways to participate:
We will offer programming on all 5 days, Monday through Friday. This programming will include games, crafts, group activities, and diabetes education.
For a materials and postage fee of $49 per child, we will mail a “Camp in a Box” kit to your camper before camp. This kit will contain all the craft supplies, game pieces, and educational materials needed to participate in all camp activities- plus a few fun surprises!
(Please note that in order to prepare and ship kits to your camper in time before camp, we must receive your camper’s registration no later than July 1)
We know that school closures, shelter in place and social distancing have been hard on our kids and our diabetes community, and that’s why CDA/NDA is determined- and excited!- to offer this option for summer camp. We want to continue to provide a place for people with diabetes to connect, learn, and grow together, even if we can’t be together in person. I am happy to answer any questions you may have- please feel free to reach out to me!
